125 Years at Glik’s

What Do You Do to Celebrate 125 Years of Family Owned Business?

You celebrate your employees for their dedication, you celebrate your vendors who’ve worked with you, and you celebrate the generations of family that built the business. Most importantly, you celebrate the customers who have made it possible for you to reach 125 Years. This is the messaging I took to the Executive Team at Glik’s in 2022.

The 125th Logo

First, I pitched a few 125th Anniversary Logos based on inspiration I had gotten from our history and other various places. In the end, we picked a design that incorporated our modern logo and would point to the company moving forward as the 4th generation of the Glik Family began leading the company.

Saying Thank You to the Community

Being part of the community is so important to the Glik’s Company, so we wanted to make sure they also benefited from the 125th Anniversary. As such, each store was able to pick out a local charity in their own communities, and 10% of the sales from that day were donated to each charity. In one day, we were able to raise money for over 70 different charities.

Saying “Thank You” to Customers

We wanted to have a featured marketing piece for the year, so we focused on video content that we could distribute across all channels, including social media ads, posts on our social, on our website, and to local news organizations. We focused on video since video drives so many views, but we also wanted to keep it short so it was easy to consume with and without sound. I worked to bid out this project as well as wrote the dialogue, storyboarded the scenes, worked with the Buying Team to make an outfit plan, and worked with our Lead Photographer to go on set the day we were shooting to ensure our messaging was going to be on point.

We also partnerned with Arch Apparel for a custom tshirt design that went live during our Anniversary Sale Launch.

Press & Public Relations

While working on the 125th Anniversary for Glik's I had my first introduction into leading Public Relations. In order to support our PR endeavors, I put together a 125th Web page for the Glik’s website. Once that was done we drove customers to our PR messaging with local giveaways at our 70 Glik’s locations as well as on our Glik’s Offical Instagram.

We partnered with several vendors to make this happen, including but not limited to, HEYDUDE, Carhartt, Poppy’s, and Duke’s. Our anniversary sale was covered by Yahoo Finance as well as other industry press. Below I have put together the website page for the 125th, the Yahoo Finance Article as well as our social giveaway.

Saying Thank You to the Employees

We wanted to make sure Glik’s Employees were appreciated since Glik’s would not have gotten here without them. To thank them, we partnered with Brumate and The North Face to get them specialized gifts. We also made an interactive piece for employees to be able to hang photos of their time as employees of Glik’s.

We also hosted an employee celebration where we all came together to celebrate the year and what Glik’s had accomplished.
